Tom Garrett and Todd Newman’s friendship led them to craft wines that would rival the best of what Napa Valley had to offer – and to build their own world-class estate. The Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines are produced in very small quantitative and artfully crafted to reflect a sense of place, making them highly sought after as a result.
Winery: Perchance Estates
Perchance Estates is a boutique Napa Valley winery founded in 2019 by two couples—Dean and Katie Papadakis and Heath and Cary Fear—after a chance birthday trip sparked an unexpected passion for winemaking. Their name reflects this serendipitous beginning. Under the direction of acclaimed winemaker Mike Smith, the estate produces small-batch wines sourced from prestigious Beckstoffer vineyards such as Georges III, To Kalon, Melrose, and Carneros Lake, crafting Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc that express Napa Valley’s distinctive terroir.

Chef: Amante Domingo, The Russell,
Noka, and Le Champion
Amante Domingo grew up on an organic farm in St. Joseph, Missouri — harvesting produce and scrubbing dishes in his parents’ vegan café. This experience shaped his commitment to farm‑to‑table, sustainable cooking. He now runs several acclaimed Kansas City restaurants, including Nōka, The Russell, and soon-to-open Le Champion, which boast menus that blend rustic, seasonal ingredients with Japanese‑inspired flavors and Midwestern sensibility.
Winery: Bella Oaks
Bella Oaks is a historic Napa-Valley estate on the Rutherford Bench, first planted in 1973 by pioneering vintners Barney Rhodes and Belle Rhodes, whose grapes helped define early single-vineyard Cabernet in California. In 2010, arts-preservationist Suzanne Deal Booth acquired the property and revitalized it, converting to organic and biodynamic farming with winemaker Nigel Kinsman. Today Bella Oaks bottles its own wines including their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon which blends Napa history, terroir focus and a commitment to heritage, art, and sustainable viticulture.
Winery: Futo
The Futo Estate was founded in 2002 by Wichita native and University of Kansas grad Tom Futo and his wife Kyle. Winery: Knights Bridge
Located just north of Calistoga lies one of California winemaking’s best-kept secrets: a 50-acre hillside site in Knights Valley discovered in 2006 by a close-knit group of family members. Recognizing the potential of this idyllic, under-the-radar region on the Mayacamas slopes, Kelley and Jim Bailey founded Knights Bridge Winery with a vision of producing world-class Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. As Sonoma County’s warmest appellation, Knights Valley offers dramatic diurnal shifts and mineral-rich volcanic and iron-laden soils that contribute depth, structure, and complexity to the wines. Today, Knights Bridge remains dedicated to small-lot, sustainably farmed, terroir-driven wines crafted with meticulous attention from vine to bottle.
