Teen Open Mic Night

Join us once a month for open mic performances, drinks, and snacks! Whether you’re coming to perform writing or music, or just there for the show, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Musicians and musical groups are welcome.

Teen After School Art Making
Every other Thursday
Classroom 1 | 4–6 pm
Come to classroom 1 every other Thursday to make art with likeminded teens. Whether you want to work on your own project or try something new, this place is for you.
Bring your own supplies or dip into ours (from a 3d printer to a sewing machine to jewelry supplies… we got it.) Featured projects TBA.

Teen Chalk Art Festival
Sunday, March 30
North Plaza Drive | 11 am – 3 pm
The Teen Chalk Art Festival is making its return this spring! If you or a group of friends would like to participate as artists, sign up here! It’s free, and we supply all the chalk and lunch for every participant.
Only teens can be artists, but everyone is welcome to attend and watch the artists work throughout the day!
Teen Council
The Teen Council is composed of a diverse group of students representing different schools in Kansas City. Their mission is to increase and diversify teen involvement at the Nelson-Atkins by planning and marketing events and programs for teens. Applications for the 2023-2024 school year are now closed and will reopen next summer.

Teen Guide
The Teen Guide program is a paid summer job experience for local teens. Teen Guides provide interactive tours of the Donald J. Hall
Sculpture Park and the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center.
The Teen Guide Program is being revised to better serve Kansas City’s teen community and the museum’s visitors. It will return in the near future.
