Notes

[1] As recorded in the deed of gift and the Philbrook Museum of Art object file. Founded by Nelle Shields Jackson (1872–1966), Miss Jackson’s (1910–2015) was a high-end fashion and luxury gift store in Tulsa. While the retailer later moved to Utica Square in 1938, the elegant Miss Jackson’s was famously the first tenant in the Philtower Building, which was built by Waite Phillips, uncle of Martha Jane Starr. For the Philtower, Phillips contracted with architect Edward Buehler Delk, who also designed the Phillips family home, Villa Philbrook, which would become the Philbrook Museum of Art.
