[1] “A noblewoman, her powdered hair dressed à la conseilleur, wearing a powder-blue dress and frilled white fichu: From the French ficher (“to fix”), a fichu is a large triangular or square lace or muslin kerchief worn by women to fill in the low neckline of a bodice., within a blue glass surround, mounted in a silver-gilt frame, the reverse with initial D set in rose diamonds beneath a coronet in relief, white and strawberry enamel also set with rose diamonds, on a plaited hair ground, within bands of half-pearls and blue and white enamel, the back of the loop also set with half-pearls, fitted hinged leather case, oval 1 11/16 in.; 4.2 cm.” The annotated catalogue lists “750” below the lot description.
