Notes
[1] “Another Miss Burgoyne, by T. Langdon, full face, wearing a white dress with blue sash and blur ribbon upon her mob cap on her dark hair—oval, 2 1/4 in. (55 mm.) high—in gilt mount.” Portraits of the sitter’s sister and parents were included in the sale; see lot 72, Miss Elizabeth Burgoyne, Montagu Burgoyne, and lot 73, Miss Burgoyne. According to an attached price list, lot 74 sold for 100 guineas. According to genealogical records, the sitter may depict Frances Elizabeth Burgoyne, born to Montagu and Elizabeth on October 6, 1783; see England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538–1975, FHL film number: 580905, 580906, digitized on Ancestrylibary.com.

The Misses Burgoyne were probably the daughters of Montagu Burgoyne (1750–1836) and his wife Elizabeth, née Harvey. Four miniatures of the Burgoyne family, including those of the sisters, were sold by Christie’s, 9th July, 1968.” The annotated catalogue lists “820” below the lot description.
