[1] “A young girl, her hair falling to her shoulders and wearing a frilled white cap trimmed with a ribbon bow and a white dress of spotted muslin, a pendant tied about her neck with a narrow black ribbon, cloud and sky background, mounted as a brooch within a silver-gilt frame with bright-cut borders, the reverse with blue glass surrounding a lock of hair on an opalescent glass ground, oval 2 7/16 in.; 6.2 cm. Compare with a similar miniature of a girl by Burch, signed, in the Victoria and Albert Museum and illustrated by Foskett (D.), A Dictionary of British Miniature Painters, 1972, pl. 31, no. 99.” The annotated catalogue lists “2600” below the lot description.
