Student Programs
Design Challenge

Students with winning design challange projectThe Nelson-Atkins Design Challenge is an opportunity for high school students to design a product for use within the museum. Students compete in groups to have their design reproduced for thousands of museum visitors to experience!

All students are welcome, regardless of design background or history. Participants will gain valuable experience working collaboratively for a client. All finished design work can be kept for portfolios.

Our most recent challenge tasked students with creating an activity for the Chinese New Year Festival on January 28, 2018.

The winning design, created by students from Washington High School, allowed festival attendees to create and decorate their own dog kite.
