Virtual Group Tours
Adult and University

Virtual Interactive Experiences are more than just a virtual tour. They are an opportunity to connect with works of art and the museum’s community in a new and personal way. Our skilled docents offer art information while encouraging participants to shape the discussion. Join us on an art exploration!

Being Seen: Art for Social Change

“The role of the artist is to make revolution irresistible,” said writer Toni Cade Bambara. Explore how contemporary artists, including Kerry James Marshall, have engaged with social movements and challenged historical narratives.

Meet the Nelson-Atkins

From Baseball to Pantry Ballet, the Friends of Art were integral to the acquisition of Modern and Contemporary art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. This interactive tour will explore the exciting – and sometimes contentious – art purchases made by the Friends of Art as they helped shape the museum’s collections.

Go behind the scenes of the Nelson-Atkins to learn about the people and processes involved in caring for and displaying works of art. Participants will consider the purpose of museums, the science of art conservation, and the choices that go into preparing and presenting works of art to the public.
