Family Tips Families are welcome!
Short and repetitive visits are more effective and exciting for children. It is more valuable to view and discuss a few art objects rather than trying to see all the art at once.
Try just 30 minutes to 2 hours at a time. The museum is free, so come often!
Be sure to mark your calendar for our next family-friendly festival!
Bags, Strollers & Carriers
Bags larger than a standard backpack need to be checked into coat check. Any backpack sizes or smaller can be worn on one shoulder.
Strollers are allowed in most spaces and collection galleries. Strollers may be prohibited in some exhibitions. Please consult museum staff or call 816-751-1278 if you have a question about a specific exhibition.
For the safety of all visitors and to protect the art, children may not be carried on the back or shoulders of an adult. Child carriers that attach to the front are allowed. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.
Personal cameras and photography are allowed in the museum. Flash is allowed in the galleries but additional equipment such as tripods, monopods and the like are not permitted. Photography in exhibitions may be restricted. Please check with museum staff for clarification.
Professional photography is not allowed inside the museum including portrait and bridal photography. You may have professional photos taken on the grounds of the museum. Please check in at our Security entrance.
Commercial photoshoots may be arranged with our staff by calling 816-751-1278. Fees may be required based on the scope and if staff assistance is required.
