Works of art have often been plundered as spoils of war. During World War II, Hitler and the Nazis looted art at an unprecedented scale, stealing thousands of objects across Europe. Join us for a tour of Discriminating Thieves: Nazi-Looted Art and Restitution as we explore works of art in the museum’s permanent collection that were looted by the Nazis during WWII. Through this interactive tour, visitors will discover the stories behind these works of art, including how they were returned to their rightful owners and subsequently acquired by the Nelson-Atkins.
