Talk | New Directions at Tamarind Institute

Lens 2

The venerable Tamarind Lithography Workshop founded by June Wayne in Los Angeles in 1960 relocated to Albuquerque in 1970 under the new name Tamarind Institute. The workshop continues the original mission today: to train master printers, introduce contemporary artists to the possibilities of collaborative printmaking, and develop educational programs to build a community around fine art lithography. In recent years, the workshop experienced a sea change of a kind, with a new director, a new education director, and a new master printer starting at about the same time. A visible shift is happening at Tamarind, and this program will provide an overview of current projects and programs underway in the workshop with Diana Gaston, the Director of the Tamarind Institute.
