Talk | The Musée Picasso: An Enduring Legacy

SOLD OUT

No-show seats will be released to visitors without tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.

Julián Zugazagoitia, director and exhibition curator, has invited three prominent French scholars and museum leaders to share perspectives on Pablo Picasso, his creative interests, and his relationship with the arts of Africa and the world.

Laurent le Bon, president of the Musée National Picasso–Paris, provides a special talk to conclude the Nelson-Atkins presentation of Through the Eyes of Picasso.  The majority of the works by the artist in the exhibition come from the collection of the Musée Picasso.

Le Bon will discuss the fascinating history behind the formation of the museum, France’s acceptance of the collection “in lieu” of estate taxes, and the enduring legacy this gift has had on the French state and the public’s appreciation of Picasso’s artistic achievements.
