Join Director Julián Zugazagoitia as he sits down with Ann Friedman, the museum’s former development director for grants and foundations, and author of the recently published An Artist in Her Own Right. The book tells a fictionalized account of Augustine Dufresne, a little-known artist historically overshadowed by her husband Antoine-Jean Gros, one of the best-known painters of the Napoleonic era. Julián and Ann discuss the novel, works by Gros featured in Napoleon: Power and Splendor, and the challenges women artists faced during that time.
