In partnership with the Autism Society the Heartland, monthly art classes will be held at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of art in classrooms 4 and 5 in the Ford Learning Center from September 2019–April 2020.
Classes are for adults 18+ on the spectrum. Classes are free, however, enrollments are required as spaces in the classroom are limited.
Enrollment is required for participants only. Care partners may stay with student during class.

Innovate your own drawing robot by using simple circuitry and a few art supplies. View various artists in the museum’s collection for inspiration on how to use mark-making and technology in art. Students will get to keep their robots, so the engineering can continue at home!

What is functional art? Observe objects from the museum’s collection that serve a purpose other than being a work of art. Create your own sketchbook to keep and learn how to design the cover using drawing and screenprinting techniques.
