Hours, Tickets & Parking

When does Art Course open?

  • The public opening date is Friday, March 10, 2023.

What is a tee time?

  • Tee times ensure entry to Art Course at a specific time and date.
  • Tee times are required to play.
  • Tee times are available onsite and online on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Due to the popularity of Art Course, we strongly encourage tee time reservations to be made in advance online or by calling 816-751-1278.

How often will tee times be released?

  • Tee times will be released in 3 sessions: spring, summer, and fall.
    • Spring Session operates weekends only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and goes on sale March 3.
    • Summer session operates regular museum hours (Thursday–Monday weekly) and goes on sale May 10.
    • Fall session operates weekends only (Friday, Saturday Sunday) and goes on sale August 9.
  • Members will have access to tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
    • Spring session member presale runs March 1and 2.
    • Summer session member presale runs May 3–9.
    • Fall session member presale runs August 2–8.

What is the price of Art Course?

  • Art Course is $18 for adults and $12 for children between ages 12 and 4.
  • Members receive a discounted Art Course price of $14.
  • Children 3 and under are free.

Where is Art Course located?

  • Art Course is located on the Nelson-Atkins campus, on the South Lawn of the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park.

Where should I park?

  • Visitors are encouraged to park in the parking garage and enter the museum through the Bloch Building. Parking in the garage is $14 for nonmembers and free for members.
  • Free parking is always an option in the North Lot off 45th Street, on a first-come, first-served basis.

How does ticketing and entry work?

  • Tickets can be purchased online (recommended) or at the Info Desk in Bloch Lobby.
  • Putters will be handed out at the start of Art Course, where your tickets will be scanned.
  • Tickets may be presented in printed form or on a mobile device.

Will my Art Course ticket include museum admission?

  • Yes, all Art Course tickets will include museum admission.

When do I need to arrive?

  • When purchasing tickets online or at the Info Desk in Bloch Lobby, you will select a tee time.
  • Tee times are assigned at ten-minute intervals.
  • Plan to arrive to the start of Art Course five minutes prior to the assigned tee time on your ticket.
  • Check into the “Putter Pick-Up” where your tickets will be scanned and putters will be distributed.

What if I miss my allotted tee time?

  • Because of the timed nature of Art Course, if you miss your assigned tee time for the day, you need to reserve another tee time for a new time that day, or for another day.
  • If you are later than 15 minutes from your tee time, you will need to visit the Info Desk to reschedule your tee time.
  • Tee times will only be rescheduled if the Nelson-Atkins is notified same day as the reserved tee time. Missed tee times from previous days will be considered “no shows” and cannot be rescheduled.
  • No refunds will be allowed for missed tee times.
  • If Art Course must close for maintenance or repair, a refund will be granted.

Note: We strongly encourage notifying the Nelson-Atkins by phone at 816-751-1278 or by email at ask@nelson-atkins.org at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to make your allotted tee time to reschedule.

How many times can I play Art Course with my ticket?

  • Your ticket is valid for one entry into Art Course at the specified time.
  • As a friendly reminder, member discounted tickets are as follows:
    • Individual members get 2 discounted tickets per day.
    • Duo members get 4 discounted tickets per day.
    • Family members get 5 discounted tickets per day.
    • Art Explorers & Art Lovers get 6 discounted tickets per day.
    • Society of Fellows members receive 20 discounted tickets per day.

How long can I play Art Course?

  • Your tickets is valid for one entry into Art Course at the specified time. While there is not a set time limit, the estimated time to experience the entire course is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

I’m a member, how do I get tickets for my guests?

  • Member discounts are as follows:
    • Individual members get 2 discounted tickets per day.
    • Duo members get 4 discounted tickets per day.
    • Family level members get 5 discounted tickets per day.
    • Art Explorers & Art Lovers get 6 discounted tickets per day.
    • Society of Fellows members receive 20 discounted tickets per day.
  • Additional tickets can be purchased online or onsite for the general public starting at $18 (subject to tee time availability).

How often will member tee times be released?

Do members of the Nelson-Atkins need a tee time?

  • Yes, everyone needs a tee time to play Art Course. Even children, regardless of age, must have a ticket with a specific assigned tee time.

Refunds & Weather Policies

What happens in the case of inclement weather?

  • Course and weather updates can be checked in real time at 816-751-1278.
  • In the event of bad weather, affected tee time holders will be offered a rain voucher to reschedule their experience at a future time.
  • Visitors who are interrupted mid-play when the course is closed will also be offered a rain voucher to finish their game at another time.
  • Refunds will not be offered.

Children, Strollers & Accessibility

Do children require a tee time?

  • All visitors require a tee time for Art Course.
  • Children between ages 4 and 12 receive a discounted ticket price of $10.
  • Children 3 and under are free, but tickets with assigned tee times are still required.
  • Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Does my child need an adult chaperone?

  • Children age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

What do I do with my stroller?

  • Standard-size strollers are welcome; however, please note that stroller access may occasionally be limited. For your convenience, stroller parking is available at the start of Art Course (please check with museum staff upon arrival).

Is Art Course wheelchair and mobility aid accessible?

  • Five of the nine holes are accessible. Please contact Visitor Services at 816-751-1278 for accommodation information.

Photos & Videos

Can I take photos or videos?

  • Photography is allowed with mobile phones and small personal cameras.
  • Tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are prohibited at Art Course and in the museum galleries.
  • Share your experience using #ArtCourseKC on social media.
