Showcase: Collecting for Kansas City

June 9, 2012—August 12, 2012

Admission is free.

Showcase: Collecting for Kansas City celebrates the generous spirit of friends from near and far.

In the past two years, an astonishing 868 works of art have been added to the collection. Of these, 803 are gifts and 65 are purchases made possible through the generosity of dedicated foundations, support groups and individuals.

In truth, the museum and everything in it are gifts to be shared with Kansas City and the world. The 25 recent acquisitions on view here comprise a mosaic that spans thousands of years, encircles the globe and represents artistic vision in many mediums.

Through these works of art, we come to see our world and ourselves in new ways.
